📝 Phase 1: The NDA Written Examination
Your journey begins with the UPSC NDA written exam. This is a test of your academic knowledge, time management, and accuracy. It consists of two major papers held on the same day:
- Mathematics 🧮
- Total Marks: 300
- Duration: 2.5 Hours
- What it tests: 11th and 12th-level mathematics (Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Matrices, etc.).
- Pro Tip: Speed is just as important as accuracy here. You need strong conceptual clarity and shortcut tricks to finish on time!
- General Ability Test (GAT) 🌍
- Total Marks: 600
- Duration: 2.5 Hours
- What it tests: This paper is divided into English (200 marks) and General Knowledge (400 marks). The GK section covers Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs.

Day 3 & 4: Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks 🏃♂️
- Time for outdoor action! You will participate in Group Discussions, Group Planning Exercises, Progressive Group Tasks, Half Group Tasks, and Individual Obstacles.
- The GTO assesses your ability to work in a team, your physical stamina, and your leadership under pressure.
Day 5: The Conference 🏆
- You will sit before a panel of all the assessors (President, GTO, and Psychologist). After a brief discussion, the final results are announced.
(Note: During these 5 days, a Personal Interview will also be scheduled with the President or Deputy President of the Board.)
